Hello
My name is Penny Heath
I have a studio on our beautiful scenic small holding in Noordhoek, Cape Town. We are surrounded by horses & mountains in this magnificent area & my inspiration comes from the beauty that surrounds me.
My history is one of antiques, buying and selling in France at the Braderie in Lille, and in the UK, selling at the world famous Portebello market in London. My love of all things old and found is what inspires my jewellery making! I love old buttons and fine cast metals, antiquities where jewellery looks like it’s been dug up from centuries ago, I like to carry this into my work by using oxidizing solutions to age the metals. I also like to use recycled silver/metals where I can as a more environmentally sensitive approach to jewellery making, as well as making use of textures and beaten silver to make the pieces look aged, as if passed down through generations. I’ve been making silver jewellery for almost 20 years attending courses in Cambridge and Norwich, Stellenbosch and Cape Town. My degree course was BA Art History/studio, which laid the foundation of my Art appreciation. I find myself being inspired by all things old and I enjoy making one off bespoke pieces, as variety is, after all, the spice of life…
“Working with Penny to create my dream piece - was a dream!
Everything is created and finished with love and care until you get the final product that is just so you.
I wear mine every day and it has become my signature piece - but it won't be my last!
Just about everything Penny designs is so beautiful and so reasonable, that I don't feel I will ever buy off the shelf again. This is far too special an experience, and I couldn't recommend her more!"
